"Hi. I'm Devra. Yes, that is with a "v," not a "b." After many years, I finally found my name in a "name book" and learned that "Devra" is the Hebrew derivation of the Jewish name "Debra." Just prior to my birth, my parents heard what they thought was the name "Devra" at a baptism service only to find out later that the name they actually heard was "Debra." In the meantime, I was born and the "naming deed" had been done. Yes, I have had my transcripts changed, documents misprinted, and years of struggling with a name where the "v" is right next to the "b" on the typewriter. We live in a world of many good Samaritans who will "correct" your name without a second thought.
When I was 10 years old, I chose to believe in God and the saving work of His Son, Jesus. I recognized that I was guilty of doing many bad things and that God had provided a way that I might have forgiveness. I chose to have faith in Him and I have lived my life since with the goal of serving God and thanking Him everyday for the life that He has given me here on Earth and the eternal life that I will spend with Him in heaven.
My early years favored the subject of mathematics so that my later years resulted in my studies and degree in accounting. I attended Biola University in La Mirada California where I received my BS degree in Accounting as well as a minor in Biblical studies. After graduating from Biola, I pursued and earned a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing from California State University of Fullerton. My husband and I currently manage a woodcarving manufacturing company, Wildlife in Wood, Inc. which produces wood carved corbels, pool table and furniture legs, and architectural carvings. We are also the co-inventors of Bobble Ball, the egg shaped billiard ball, which we distribute through SOURCEnterprises, Inc.
Throughout my life, I have continued to learn and study God's Word through the various churches that I have been involved in. I am very grateful to my parents for providing me with an upbringing that encompassed many churches where I learned to respect the various forms of worship and celebration of God's love for all mankind. These churches include The First Presbyterian Church of Anaheim, First Evangelical Free Church of Fullerton, Melodyland Christian Center, First Evangelical Free Church of Yorba Linda, First Baptist Church of Anaheim, and Calvary Chapel of East Anaheim.
Currently I am involved with a variety of church and community activities. Within the church, I am leading the high school youth group and within the community, I provide Bobble Ball activities within our local Boys & Girls Club, Senior Community Center, YMCA, and other community events. God is continuing to open doors in ministry and I look forward to being involved with a ministry that will spread God's message through the Sport of Billiards.
